HYPNOSIS WORKS NATURALLY
| Hypnosis
is a normal, perfectly natural, pleasant state
of deep mental, physical relaxation and concentration with heightened awareness
induced by suggestion.
It has no unwanted or unpleasant side effects. Everyone can benefit. |
|
The power of the mind and the client’s own inner resources are used to release stress, tension and pressure, remove negative thoughts, achieve realistic goals, alter old and unwanted behaviour patterns in favour of new and more rewarding ways of being and alleviate or eliminate a wide variety of stress-related or psychosomatic problems. |
A light trance is all that is necessary to have a beneficial effect for most conditions, but because in this state you are more deeply relaxed than usual, the suggestions given to you by the hypnotist will be acted upon more easily by the subconscious part of your mind. Although at times you may drift as in the daydreaming state, there is most certainly no question of being controlled or manipulated. In the therapy situation and under hypnosis nobody can be made to do anything that they do not want to do or wouldn’t normally do - a person in hypnosis has a heightened awareness of their environment and will usually retain a full and accurate memory of everything afterwards.
In hypnotherapy, analysis and cognitive therapy are also used to discover the underlying problem and its solution. If the source of the stress is identified with due care, and clients are guided in recognising negative thought patterns and working on changing them, they are then enabled to reduce or eliminate the cause, obtaining, in most cases, a permanent release.
Training in the use NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming) and creative visualisation encourages the full use of all the five senses and along with breathing and relaxation techniques, the client’s own ‘self-hypnosis’ skills are developed as a means of improving the quality and effectiveness of their lives.
A course of hypnotherapy, which usually lasts from three to four sessions or more if general confidence is lacking, aims to equip the client with the necessary skills to perform their own self-hypnosis and deal with stress and other related problems independently and confidently. Most sessions last for approximately 1 hour although, if a longer time is needed, then sessions can go to 1½ hours or more.
Nowadays, hypnosis is also used successfully in the medical and dental professions and in many areas of personal development such as increasing performance in sports, or career development, and raising a person's level of self-esteem, confidence and competence in everyday life by enhancing memory, improving study habits, releasing blocked potential and instilling a more positive attitude.
